Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste attracts over 5,000 visitors, establishing itself as a reference in Brazil’s Northeast

Press Release – Monday, April 15, 2024

Fortaleza, 15 April 2024 – Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste ended its 4th edition in Fortaleza this Thursday, 11 April, having attracted more than 5,000 visitors and establishing itself as a reference in Brazil’s Northeast.

Over the event’s two days, the present and future of solar energy were discussed at the event’s conference and workshops by 25 big names in the industry, who addressed hot topics such as green hydrogen, energy storage, electric mobility, the design of energy storage systems, the installation of electric vehicle charging stations, and design opportunities for integrators in the free market of solar energy and in the electric mobility segment. Additionally, the exhibition featuring 100 leading companies in the energy industry smoothed the way for business deals and networking. The event was organized by Aranda Eventos & Congressos from São Paulo, Brazil, and Solar Promotion International from Pforzheim, Germany.

After two bustling days of knowledge-sharing, networking, and significant business deals, the end of this edition showed results which exceeded the organisers’ expectations. “We are very pleased with the figures of this edition of Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste. Our panels were marked by high-level discussions, our workshops featured new insights, and our exhibition produced numerous business deals. We have demonstrated the leadership of Brazil’s Northeast in the energy transition and hope to continue contributing to this development which benefits the whole of society,” said Dr. Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of Solar Promotion International.

Exhibitors enthused on Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste’s triumph and its importance for their companies, and talked at length about this market’s engagement and ability to launch new products, create business deals and develop meaningful partnerships in those two days.

Samuel Costa, Account Manager at Sungrow, described Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste as a momentous occasion for his company, especially in the Northeast region, where they have a strong market presence. He remarked that “the exhibition this year was very successful; we closed several business deals and also demonstrated our new products to hundreds of people who visited our booth.” Costa added that his company continues a long-standing partnership with Aranda in these events and will also be exhibiting at their shows in São Paulo and Porto Alegre.

Thiago Varanda, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldo Solar, also had high praise: “The event was sensational. We had a wonderful interaction through an activation we conducted in partnership with Growatt, attracting more than 1,000 participants.” Varanda indicated that his company had achieved a significant reactivation in the Brazilian Northeast and North, respectively their second and third markets, and pledged that Aldo Solar will be at Intersolar South America in São Paulo and Intersolar Summit Brasil Sul in Porto Alegre.

Carlos Rafael Chalá, Commercial Coordinator at Serrana Solar, expressed delight at being at Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste for the third time, observing that “we have always been warmly received. The event has been very well organised and the attendance has exceeded our expectations. People have been fully engaged at the workshops and discussion panels. It has been a great pleasure for us to be here again.”

The event was also praised by conference attendees such as Simone Lindoso, an engineer, who said, “I was much impressed by the presentations at the Conference and the size of the exhibition. I think Ceará is doing very well in solar energy and green hydrogen. The topics discussed by the panels were highly relevant, such as the issue of batteries and energy storage systems, with BESS as an addition to solar energy and green hydrogen. These topics should feature in many more discussions in the future.”

The Conference once again showcased the potential of Brazil’s Northeast in the solar energy industry and its role in the energy transition by highlighting the integration of solar with other services such as digitization and green hydrogen, as well as the region’s advantageous conditions for solar and wind energy development. As Delfina Pontes, Superintendent of Smart Solutions at Neoenergia, pointed out, “The great merit of the event is its understanding that we can add value to energy from the sun, which is Brazil’s trademark, with other services such as digitization, mobility, storage, and green hydrogen.” Similarly, Markus Vlasits, director of NewCharge, stressed that “there is no doubt this is an anchor event for renewable energies in the Northeast, especially photovoltaic. We have exhibitors from various industrial segments. Thus, visitors can learn about and familiarise themselves with the main trends in the industry, and then bring them back to their businesses.”

From the State Government’s perspective, Joaquim Rolim, Executive Secretary for Industry at Ceará’s Economic Development Office, remarked that “it is an event of great relevance for the State of Ceará, for the Northeast, and for Brazil as a whole. We will continue to devote to this event the special attention it deserves. I would like to congratulate the organisers. We are honoured and happy to have hosted it again.” Jurandir Picanço, a consultant on energy to Ceará’s Federation of Industries, stressed that “the Conference demonstrates that solar energy is the main vector of the energy transition, and most of the green hydrogen will be produced by using this energy source. Brazil’s Northeast boasts optimal conditions for that, since we can harness both solar and wind generation. These two sources combined make for a unique environment for this business model.”

Dr. Rodrigo L. Sauaia, President of the Brazilian Association of Solar Photovoltaic Energy, emphasised that “photovoltaic solar is already the second largest energy source in Brazil’s mix, and the Northeast plays a fundamental role in it. Therefore, we are working together with the federal government, and with regulatory offices, states, and municipalities to ensure that solar continues to grow and drives Brazil on in the energy transition.”

Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste is supported by the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLAR), NewCharge, Sindienergia-CE, Clean Energy Latin America (CELA), the Brazilian Network of Women in Solar Energy (MESol), Ceará’s Economic Development Agency (ADECE), Ceará’s Economic Development Office, Instituto Cadeia do Zinco (ICZ), and Litro de Luz. The event’s partners are Movimento Solar Livre, Ceará’s Centre for Brazil-Germany Cooperation and Information (CCIBAC), Embrappi-CEAR/UFPB, and the Federal University of Ceará. Our media partners are Canal Solar, Fotovolt, Eletricidade Moderna and Busca Solar.

INTERSOLAR SUMMIT BRASIL NORDESTE: BRAZIL’S MOST SUCCESSFUL SOLAR EVENT BOOSTING THE NORTHEAST’S PV BUSINESS

Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste – Brazil's most successful solar event, boosting photovoltaic businesses in the Northeast - took place at the Ceará Events Center in Fortaleza, Brazil, from April 10 to 11, 2024,and focused on the areas of photovoltaics, PV production, solar thermal technologies as well as green hydrogen.

Brazil’s Northeast stands out in the renewable energy sector, with excellent conditions for the generation of renewable energy through solar and wind, as well as the infrastructure and logistics for the production of green hydrogen. Another major asset is the state of Ceará's commitment to integrating academia, government, and industry to strengthen the use of renewable energy.

The event will feature sessions and roundtables, with the presence of authorities and invited specialists, enabling interaction and debates with the audience.

The summit’s mission is to provide in-depth education, enable high-quality networking opportunities, expand the use of PV technologies at the regional and national levels, strengthen the local PV industry, and demonstrate the potential of green hydrogen produced with solar energy for the Northeast of Brazil.

In 2024, Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste welcomed more than 5,000 visitors and 100 providers showcased their products.

With events spanning four continents, Intersolar is the world’s leading exhibition and conference series for the solar industry.
