Roney Nakano Vitorino has been serving on the Department of Generation and Transmission Studies since 2013, at the Energy Research Office in Brazil (EPE), which is focused on advising the Ministry of Mines and Energy on energy and electricity planning.
He awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, Doctoral Dissertation Research Award, and developed his research program, related to renewable energy and power system modeling, at MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change, collaboratively with MIT Energy Initiative. His Ph.D. was hosted in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Power Systems, at the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. He holds also a M.S. and a B.S. from the same institution.

He is a Professor at the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of São Paulo, with experience in Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energies. He is an Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Solar Energy (RBENS) in the area of Economics and Public Policy, a collaborator of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) and a member of the Board of the Brazilian Solar Energy Association (ABENS).
